This year’s beneficiary is Union MicroFinanza (UMF), an international non-profit dedicated to improving the conditions of impoverished rural communities in Honduras through innovation and research. UMF’s goal is to advance microfinance and provide a sustainable solution to poverty through
- providing microloans to small farmers giving them financial capacity to make the most of their land and break the cycle of poverty.
- providing proper training which insures that clients are educated in the newest and most effective ways to utilize their micro loans.
- researching the best ways to help the communities of La Unión.
- actively helping clients find better markets for their products.
- reinvesting in the communities through public service projects.
