Two years ago today a devastating earthquake rocked Haiti. Brian Barker works at International Aid here in Spring Lake and is also a part of our church. Brian was just in Haiti back in December, and here are some of his observations. ”There was some clean up and construction projects that I noticed underway, but from a general overview of Port-au-Prince, the roads are still damaged and there’s still a lot of work to be done. Homes and businesses are demolished, and hospitals are still recovering. International Aid has been working mainly to resupply hospitals by providing repair kits and training to repair damaged equipment. The goal is to provide sustainable materials so the hospitals can function with little assistance. Pray for International Aid as they continue their support efforts in Haiti.
Spring Lake Wesleyan has just invested $20,000 to continue the construction project we began a year ago with Global Partners. We plan to send a team to assist with the project in about 12 months when there is a openning for a team. If you are interested let me know – dhorne@slwc.org
